For this opus, the license refocuses on the adventures of Ichiban Kasuga, a former convict looking for an answer after being betrayed by his mentor, the head of a large mafia family.

Our new hero takes you on a quest for answers, driven by his keen sense of justice. Between seriousness and humor, the game remains strongly inspired by previous opus while retaining this approach taken from gangster cinema, both in terms of casting and artistic direction. The action is now taking place in Yokohama, in the district of Isezaki Ijincho, totally modeled for the occasion. As usual, this new area is full of life and varied activities. The real change appears on the gameplay side with a tactical RPG approach, in the form of turn-based combat. Although the latter are strategic, we always find the epic and funny essence of this universe. The other side of the coin is that this new approach involves grindingto ramp up. It is essential to devote time to it to improve your different characters and teach them other trades and skills.

Demon's Souls Remake

Demon’s Souls Remake

In an alternate twentieth century, you play as a detective who, after an eventful night, must investigate a body, suspended in the backyard of the hotel where you are.

The reputation of Demon’s Souls is well established. It constitutes, by itself, the origin of a genre: Souls-like. With this remake, the visual aspect with landscapes and sets are all more successful than the others. Of course, the redesign is not limited to the background and even affects the animations, completely revised for the occasion. They help to give more impact to the clashes which are much more significant than in the past. The whole is also sprinkled with a neat soundtrack. The original structure is maintained by resting on the Nexus. It acts as a hub for NPCs while allowing you to reach one of the 5 adventure worlds. In this title, you help Cody and May, a struggling couple turned into dolls, reverse the spell while saving their relationship. To do this, you will have to venture into their house.

Through the eyes of our duo, you will have to walk through the different rooms of the house to get out of it. It has multiple assets including colorful characters who help boost a fairly simple scenario mixing emotions and humor over the 7 chapters. The difficulty is adapted thanks to a low-punitive death system where you can resurrect your partner if you survive. The gameplay is varied, making you evolve from a platform phase to hack’n’slash or rail shooting, in all fluidity. The whole is underlined by a careful artistic direction, with a particular mention for the rendering expressions of the different antagonists.

In this new installment of Tales of, you help the inhabitants of Dahna to rebel against their oppressors from the planet Rena in order to regain their freedom.

For its 25th anniversary, this opus marks a turning point in the history of the franchise. Its main strength comes from its complex universe where Manichaeism is left aside. This ideology is marked by a worked narration and characters with careful treatment, to be discovered over the typical scenes of Tales of. Of course, this title is quite talkative, without losing interest. The graphics are based on detailed cell-shading, straight from Japanese anime, colorful panoramas and well-animated characters. A welcome epic touch is provided by the soundtrack. On the combat side, the system combines dynamism and strategy by making the most of your allies and your abilities. The total lifespan is around 40 hours.

Deathloop

Deathloop

Colt wakes up with amnesia on an unknown beach. He quickly realizes that he is doomed to live the same day until he succeeds in defeating the 8 psychopaths ruling the island on which he is stranded.

Under the background of a time loop, Deathloop offers to continuously live the same day in order to find the best sequence of events to get out of it. Everything is based on somewhat limited graphics for the next gen, which are quickly offset by the artistic direction inspired by the 60’s and 70’s. It is found in particular on the eccentric outfits of the antagonists. The universe of the title consists of 4 areas to explore with a successful level design and a fairly substantial content serving to strengthen Colt to facilitate your progress. Although the game itself is quite interventionist, the gameplay is full of details with a freedom of approach (stealth or pure action) which is also found in the personalization of your character and his attributes, preserved from a loop to another.
